Our Creed:

The Order of the Shield Priests is a service collective dedicated to all of Alharth. In this role, members are encouraged to treat all players with respect, regardless of their path, skill, or affiliation. In challenging situations, our goal is to look for a graceful resolution, and set an example of dignity and friendship through our actions.

We embrace the attitude of the Hopesworn: we are friendly to others in our travels, neutral, and never initiate aggression. We strive at all times to be perceived by the community as a non-threat; a source of stability. Although we never intentionally seek to harm, we may stand as a shield for our friends and our lives. In suffering losses, we respond with good cheer. We acknowledge defeat, and do not mourn loss. In this way, we aim to be recognized and respected by all across the world, and left in peace to do our work.

Among our own ranks, we are patient and generous with knowledge, ideas, and experiences. We foster a mentoring culture by answering questions, freely sharing experiences, and learning resources.

We are the wall that warms, and the hand that helps; we are the beacon in the dark.

I. The World is Cold

Alharth is a beautiful land, but it is an unyielding one. To the traveler with a broken blade, to the explorer shivering in the Kur snows, and to the novice overwhelmed by the dark of the crypts, the world is not an adventure—it is a struggle.

The Order of the Shield Priests exists because no one should have to struggle alone. We do not seek to conquer the world, to rule its cities, or to claim its riches. We seek only to be the barrier between the traveler and the grave. We are Hopesworn, and we have traded the pursuit of glory for the practice of mercy.

II. The Shield and the Flame

We are a collective of likeminded souls who have mastered the arts of the Shield and the Priest.

   • The Shield is our promise: We shall be the wall that does not break. We stand where the danger is greatest so that others may find safety in our light.
   • The Priest is our gift: We carry the warmth of Arisetsu. Our fire heals the spirit, mends the flesh, and feeds the hungry, and smite the undead.

We do not act for the sake of any faction. We are neutral in all conflicts: a wound is a wound regardless of who wears the armor.

II. The Internal Covenant: The Shared Hearth

Faded scribling, lost to time.

IV. The Hopesworn Creed: Our Service

To be Hopesworn is to live by a simple, unwavering code of conduct:

   1. The Price is Nothing: We accept no coin, for our aid. Donations welcome.
   2. The Shield is First: We never initiate conflict, but we never flee. We are the protectors of the unprotected.
   3. The Hearth is Open: Every Hopesworn carries the bounty of the Order. We provide food to the hungry, mend the broken, and warmth to the freezing.
   4. The Silence is Sacred: We do not seek the spotlight. We arrive when we are needed, we provide what is missing, and we depart with a blessing.

V. The Call: Are You Hopesworn?

The Order does not recruit through grand proclamations. We look for those who are already living the Creed. Do you find yourself stopping to heal a stranger? Do you carry extra bread specifically for those who have none? Do you wish to belong to a brotherhood that values your character more than your kill-count? If you are a practitioner of the Shield and the Priest—or if you wish to learn their ways in the service of others—the Hearth is waiting.
