::: These things happen. I got bit by this too and it was only after I checked, double-checked, and triple-checked that I concluded my template changes were correct, and something else was amiss.  I found a "fix" to the caching problem, which can be applied on a page-by-page basis: you can force the page to update by using the "purge" action.  One easy way to do this is to "View history" on the page.  Then edit the URL shown to change "action=history" to "action=purge".  That will force the page to update.  Quite painful for the whole site, but usable if only a few pages were affected.  I'll post again if I find an easier way to do this. :::: Nice, i found this on stackexchange about methods of purging multiple articles at once: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25597846/purging-all-pages-in-mediawiki.  There's some documentation about some of the methods at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Purge#See_also.  I'll post on BetaNotus's and Extractum11's talk pages to see if they can help with this. Revision as of 16:09, 24 February 2017

I'm not quite sure what's happening. A few pages (Flia, Roshun, Fainor, Mushroom Jack, probably some others) seem not to be updating to reflect the most recent edits (starting with Arindor's after i broke this page by leaving out some noinclude tags). Maybe the transclusion takes time? I don't really know how it works, but that seems unintuitive to me. Anyone have any insight? Alleryn (talk) 23:54, 23 February 2017 (CST)

Seems to be some sort of server-side page caching going on. I believe your edits actually fixed the problem a few revisions back. Try this: Edit Fainor and then "Show Preview". You'll see that the preview page displays (more) correctly. I noticed this page-caching effect when fixing the MOB Iconbox template (fixes don't show until previewing). Hope that helps! Thanks, the show preview does now display the page as i think it should look (more or less, and after eliminating some white space from the template that i'd inadvertently added). I guess i'll leave things for a bit and see if any remaining kinks work themselves out on their own. Thanks again and sorry all for making this mess to begin with.
