The sewer pipes also act as a '''back entrance''' to a deeper area of the [[Serbule Crypt]] (level 1). This appears to provide access for Sigil Scripters to [[Sir Arif]] who deals in sigils and symbols (a kind of trap skill?). This is hinted by the random Acid Sigils that spawn along the way to the Crypt portal.
This is a good place to stock up on '''Mogyar Cheese''' if you cannot yet afford or craft better regenerative foods.
