Welcome
==Welcome==Welcome, and thanks for helping out :)--Gorgonzola (talk) 11:08, 29 September 2014 (CDT)
Btw, I meant to say thanks for the Sanja and Jace Soral additions, really nice! Hmm this just got me thinking, would it make sense to have a category for Beast friendly NPCs? We could pull a list with DPL tag on the beast form pages. Though I don't know myself if beast friendly NPCs talk to all beasts or only certain kinds. --Gorgonzola (talk) 05:15, 12 October 2014 (CDT) :It isn't uniform between them. For example, I know that Mushroom Jack, the Hogan'About categoriess Keep goblins, Azalak, etc. all speak to all beast form players, however Suspicious Cow only speaks to Deer, Pigs, and Cows, and I'm fairly certain Sanja only speaks to Wolves (It was full moon when I last spoke to her, so I couldn't check). No doubt there are other exceptions I haven't found yet. Karunama (talk) 15:39, 12 October 2014 (CDT) ==Categories==Note that categories like "Mushrooms" may limit our ability later to index various item types, but that depends on how much is really worthwhile to index. To be honest I did the "Likes" categories mostly to learn how they work. Atm I usually just "/wiki spoons" for example, and the wiki search will give me the relevant NPCs due to the text search. So atm I just don't know what is going to be the use for them, but I am not at all experienced in MediaWiki so maybe I am missing something. One idea in the longer term would be to add little icons next to the items in the "Small Talk" section, and clicking those will go to the category page, showing other NPCs that like the similar item. --Gorgonzola (talk) 08:44, 2 October 2014 (CDT)
PS: Oh I see what you did there with the :Category:Likes page, good idea :) --Gorgonzola (talk) 08:50, 2 October 2014 (CDT)
==Zone pages & monster statsNPC Shop Icons==If you have Hi guys. I think the energy to basic Shop icons templating is ready for use. See NPC Template and Item Icons Guide. Many icons are reused in-game so a lot of items in shop listings should be covered. We will just add invividual pages icons over time whenever the fancy arise :) I have some ideas to many foes I think make it would be better easier to edit their stats create those shop listings (armor/health/powerwith a little script) as well as Anatomy knowledge inside their relevant pages .. but for several reasonsnow that's how it works. IF you somehow want more data on the shop, msg me in-game (Gorgonzola), or post on my page, or post on the Talk:* The stats will NPC Template I should see it. Currently you can see one idea for Lucky Belt is I used a ABBR tag to put the skills in the tooltip. There's always compromises to be duplicated between made, I think icons make the parent pageshop list easier to scan, and monster pagesis worth the extra space. Having those icons also gives us other possibilities, for example see Sword#Equipment. --Gorgonzola (talk) 16:31, 6 October 2014 (CDT) ==Creature Type Pages==Hi Karu, requiring more edits in as discussed I'm wondering how to handle the future creature types. (also keep you seemed to have interest in mind some that part of these general foes may very well appear in the wiki). Atm creature type more zones or less equals in -game Anatomy classification right? Thats probably the futuremore logical way to go. So we have "Arthropod", "Fungoid", "Goblin", etc. First I would suggest to make new pages, thus further increasing reather than use the Category Page themselves. Here is an example from GWW Arachnids. Perhaps on that page you can list the number of places Anatomy XP you wanted to? On this page we can make an automatic list with DPL tag. The ones we don't have to update an article yet, we can just manually list them)in that page so we don't forget about it.* <strike>I planned to make would do just like GWW and use a nice little stats template with Armor/Health/Power iconssimple page name: "Fungoid", "Goblin", "Giant", "Plant" ,etc.If needed later we can add the anatomy pages (the sub skills), so eg. "Dinosaur" is the creature type, and "Dinosaur Anatomy" would be a skill page (if we ever want to document these). Only too generic name I will edit it can see is "Plant" ("Biting Vine"s in Sun Vale). For Therese, you used :Category:Plants (plural) as the creature Likes category, so there is no collision there. Let me know what you think. --Gorgonzola (talk) 20:32, 6 October 2014 (CDT) So to clarify I propose to make these pagesnamed exactly: Aberration, Arthropod, Bear and Bugbear, Canine, but they wonetc. (exactly as written in the in-game anatomy sub-skills). I fixed "Dinosaurs" (Dinosaur) and "Ruminant Ungulate" (Ruminant) as these didn't work correspond to the in the zone -game skills pane. All these pages are non-plural (in unlike the table format"Likes" categories)</strike> DONE . If you're fine with that, feel free to go ahead with any of these pages. --Gorgonzola (talk) 20:45, 6 October 2014 (CDT) * Helps trim down : I went ahead and created a few pages to get a better idea of how that would work. As you mentioned that you planned to "make (anatomy) page link to the relevant creature anatomy info".. I edited a few links in there. So you can see the general picture: Anatomy sub-skills table links to the zones creature type pages which may grow long and unwieldy over time* And most importantly imho("Aberration", this gives the option for people to reveal more at their own discretion"Undead", by following etc). Hopefully that's what you meant. On each creature type page I put a small mention of the link Autopsy Kit (ielinks back to Anatomy page). Those pages use DPL tag to list the further away from currently categorized creatures. The other ones we can add manually for whenever we feel like adding the main page, later (the more detailsred links can act as a todo list basically, kind of eg. in Plant I put one I found that I don't have time to document atm). If you have ideas for this page feel free to make something like Creature Type Template so we can decide on a spoiler hierarchystructure there? --Gorgonzola (talk)15:57, 7 October 2014 (CDT) : PS: As you can see I used the in-game Anatomy sub-skills description to get a basic intro for the page.--Gorgonzola (talk) 16:00, 7 October 2014 (CDT)
<strike>ps: ==Beast Form Pages==Regarding your recent edit of Spider Form. Actually I think it would make sense to use "Pig Form" or maybe "Pig (beast form)". When I started editing here, there was already "Cow Form", which seemed logical. But then there is "Lycanthropy" instead of "Werewolf Form"... Personally I'll try would prefer to get have consistent "Animal Form" page names, as the Deer, Pig, Spider are too generic articles and intuitively sound like the basic creature or type. Let me know what if you want you can go ahead making the "xxx Form" pages and moving content there, and blank the ones behind. I know a nice little Armorplayer may /Health/Power template soonwiki spider ... Thanks for all In that case I would suggest to add to the good work!</strike> DONEintro of the basic creature "A player can turn into (animal), see animal Form". How's that sound? --Gorgonzola (talk) 05:04, 7 October 2014 (CDT)
--:I agree that it should be internally consistent, so if I was going to consider the best way to do it, IMHO it would be Spider (Skill). That way Lycanthropy and the various beast forms stay heterogenous, both with themselves and all the other battle skills. : Hmm. : Sure, I now realize certain creatures like Skeleton Archer may use different stats depending where they spawnthat. So I see two solutions here: 1) if tis is really necessary (I think Makes sense , it's overkill and documenting for documenting's sake, imho, which is pointless) we can document the stats in the body article, for each zone the mob appears ina full skill line right. I'm definitely not going to bother doing that in alpha, and I'd like to save my sanity. 2) Much more reasonable imho is to document the Armor/Health/Rage only for named creatures, in the So Template:MOB infoboxSpider (Skill). This is simpler, and it's also useful, whereas documenting stats of a sickly wolf is pretty pointlesss Cow (imhoSkill) and a waste of our time (AND, personally if I do something I'd like to do it welletc. Not sure wjhat you mean with Lycanthropy. if Should we want to document every single mob's stats, it's going to be endless work, so it's only going to be half-done work, whereas documenting all the boss type creatures is totally doable during alphahave Lycanthropy (Skill).<br><br> or Werewolf (Let's make a small, but coherent and useful wiki, rather than one that adds up pages, half of them near empty of substance and being of no interest to the player.Skill)<br><br>So for ? i think the general creatures I will look at the template and see that the Armor/Health/Rage is only optional so it can show only latter may be easier for the bosses (otherwise it will be incorrect as I explained as certain basic monsters exist in various "strengths"). players? --Gorgonzola (talk) 1608:4507, 3 7 October 2014 (CDT)
==Misc==Could you let me know :: Btw, if you got notified of my last replies, as I'm not sure how notifications are fired. I reorganized the talk blank out a page a bit by topics sometimes and maybe that stops the "new message" from working. As far as I don't know whenever you reply what to do with indents ( : character ), it will notify the other person, but that may require the person you respond to to have signed (with can use <nowikicode>--~~~~#REDIRECT pagename</nowikicode>to make it into a redirect. (presumably that does the exact same thing as "Move", it is not possible to truly move a page it seems, or not obvious at all). --Gorgonzola (talk) 1408:1609, 5 7 October 2014 (CDT)
