Voltronin' Update 9/3/2026
This update features the highly-requested merger of low-population servers, plus our first batch of Steam achievements, new UI screens, and more.
Server Merge
During the game's launch we added new servers too quickly, which has left some servers with low populations that make finding a group difficult. But merging servers wasn't really an option available to us -- until now! In this update, the
Laeth,
Miraverre,
Strekios, and
Dreva servers have been combined into one. The new improved
Dreva server contains all of your characters from all of these worlds.
If your characters were on Strekios, Miraverre, or Laeth, you may see the following changes:
- - Your character name may have changed if that name was already in use on Dreva or another merged world
- - If this happens to you, you can pick a new name via a new "Player Rename Golem" in Serbule, standing next to the "Account Package Golem".
- - This free rename credit expires after a year if not used
- - Your guild name may have changed if that guild name was already in use on Dreva or another merged world
- - To determine the new name, we generally just added "of Laeth", "of Miraverre", or "of Strekios" to the end of the guild name
- - There is currently no way to change guild names, so we recommend that you learn to love your new guild name
- - There may be a way to rename guilds in the future
- - Your player-stall rental history is wiped -- your items still exist, but you don't have a stall rented. You can rent a stall in the usual way.
- - This is generally a benefit because it means stall costs will be at their cheapest, since you'll have no previous stall rentals to raise the cost.
- - If you don't want to open a stall, you can retrieve your shop items from Selphie in Serbule
Extra (Temporary) Character Slots
If you had a lot of characters on the merged servers, they'll all live on the Dreva server now. This may mean you have more characters than you have character slots. To help you consolidate these characters, we'll be giving the Dreva server two extra character slots. These are temporary slots that will last 30-60 days. After that, excess characters will be inaccessible until you delete other characters (or get more character slots).
When deleting a character, there is normally an increasing delay before the character "really dies". We've minimized this delay for migrated characters: they only take the minimum time (1 hour) to be fully deleted, regardless of how many other characters you've deleted recently.
Loading Screen Update
While loading, you will now see a randomly selected image from some location in the game world. Most of the time, it will be from the zone you are entering. But occasionally you'll be shown another spot of the world, and sometimes even an image specific to your current quest (if it's part of the main storyline).
New Favor-Increased Screen
We've improved the Favor-Up screen for NPCs, making the new benefits much more obvious. Our hope is that this demystifies the NPC Favor system for newer players, and drives home the importance of improving your in-game relationships! It should also highlight specific NPCs as routes for making money, via regular reminders of how many councils they have available for selling to.
Steam Achievements
We've added the first round of Steam achievements! Most of them are retroactive, so if your character already meets the requirements for one, you will receive it automatically upon first login. We plan to add a few dozen more achievements in future updates.
Keelfip Is Back
The Statehelm dice game known as Keelflip is playable again! There is a new "demoralization" mechanic: if you lose too many times in an hour, you become demoralized and can't continue playing until your morale improves. You can lose a total of 5+(Gaming Skill Level / 5) times per hour.
Everything Else

Aug 11, 2026 - Steam Patch Available
There is a new Steam patch available that fixes the ambient volume slider. (We didn't take the game offline for this one, but you can easily tell if you have the patch: if your ambient volume slider works, you do.)

Aug 10, 2026 - Bugfix Minor Update
Barbran changes
- - Eltibule quest now requires Giant Snail Shells instead of Perfect Giant Snail Shells. If you had the Eltibule quest active, it has been versioned and removed from your quest log. Your next visit to Barbran will reset your quest status so you can grab a new one.
- - General success chance for winning the weekly bonus roll increased from 2% to 2.5%
- - Goblin Bits are now more party-loot friendly. Drop rate also slightly increased.
Everything Else
- - Fixed performance regression from last update that caused some users to have slower loading screen
- - Unfortunately this fix requires you to re-download much of the game. This time the "suck" flag has been turned off (metaphorically) (and almost literally)
- - Improve logic around your current target's appearance changing while remaining selected
- - fix visible internal hotspot in Amulna (aka the translucent pink cube)
- - Pull Harold's chest out of the wall in Statehelm Crypt
- - Reduce brightness of the character select and character creation screens
- - Fix bug where an area's lighting changes drastically a few seconds after loading the area
- - Most outdoor zones' maps can now be zoomed very far out, to enable using the main map as a minimap
- - Fix shiny wall in Serbule at certain times of day and during certain weather
- - Add missing crystal ingredient to Winter Leggings and Winter Gloves recipes
- - Fae Jewelry sparks now give +1 Max Health/Power instead of +0.0025
- - Fix rendering issue in the party room of the Casino
- - Fix for elf and human jewelry rendering in places that it shouldn't
- - Fix special settings not persisting
- - Word of Power: Elemental Immunity now actually applies all 3 immunities
- - Allied monsters (such as guards in Eltibule & Vidaria) no longer increase your horse's anxiety
- - Fix for pets and monsters being unable to travel through the ice barrier in Kur Tower
- - Improve torch lighting in Eltibule, and add a few new interactive lamps
- - Preserved Corpses now have unique appearances
- - Statehelm Blademen now unsheathe their weapons when attacking training dummies
- - fixed an occasionally-appearing hippo in gauntlet 2 which was all red instead of textured
- - fixed 404 error if you used "/wiki" without a search term
- - more localizable strings: training-menu entries and post-training messages. (Most requirements messages are still not localizable though.)
- - cleaned up redundant entries in some NPCs' training menu (where the same option was listed multiple times)
- - Fix bug causing "Update Model" to sometimes show erroneously when choosing a character who logged out mounted
- - mushroom turrets: remove casting time
- - increased chance that graffiti causes a spark-of-inspiration quest

Daily Login Rewards, Situational Awareness, New Animal Art -July 30, 2026
Note: this update requires an almost-complete re-download. The benefit is that the game will require about 10gb less space on your machine, and the changes should result in smaller patches in the future.
Daily Login Rewards
You now receive a daily login reward on each calendar day after your first login. The initial rewards are geared toward new players and come with hints on how to use them. For instance, the first day's reward is some empty bottles. The second day's reward is a shovel. As you continue to log in, the rewards become more valuable, eventually being worth 1-2k Councils per day. On some days you'll also receive a new title. (This isn't a "login streak" system, meaning the rewards don't reset; you'll always get the next reward in the list whenever you next log in.)
Each day's reward can only be claimed on one of your characters, although the titles are shared between all your characters anyway. (And the items can be transferred via transfer-chest as usual.) Aside from the titles, none of the rewards are unique items. They can all be found in-game in other ways.
This feature was a suggestion from our players as a way to modernize the game a bit and incentivize logging in. We're interested in what you think! We'll run this feature for a few months as an experiment and decide whether to keep it based on your feedback.
(We're busy working on other player suggestions, too!)
New Skill: Situational Awareness
There's a new skill to try out called Situational Awareness, allowing you to move carefully and track opponents. The skill gives you a toggleable sidebar ability. When active, you can see dots on your minimap (and your regular map) representing nearby enemies.
This skill will soon be taught as part of the "main storyline" quests, but for now you can learn it from Jake the Buckler in Sun Vale (at Comfortable favor and a cost of 10k Councils). And while you can find Jake outdoors in a druid camp, Situational Awareness is most useful indoors, especially in tight dungeon corridors. Well, at high level it has enough range to be helpful in outdoor encounters like Povus City, too. But it's less convenient outdoors because of its one down-side:
While Situational Awareness is active, you can't gain the benefit of speed buffs. (Specifically, your Movement Speed + your Sprint Boost is capped at 8, which is the default without any buffs. Buffs are suppressed while it's active, and re-activate if you turn off Situational Awareness. Situational Awareness also turns off when you are mounted.) Other things to know:
- - You can click on the minimap/map dots to select that enemy
- - When tab-targeting, you can tab-select enemies on your minimap even if they are obstructed by walls or other obstacles (in other words, you don't need line of sight to select them -- though you still need to be able to see them to e.g. shoot them!)
- - Elites look different from regular monsters
- - Enemies have different colors depnding on whether they are in/out of combat or neutral. You can change these colors in the settings.
- - If your Situational Awareness skill is at least as high as the monster's combat level, you can see the monster's name in a tooltip when you hover over their map dot
- - You earn XP in Situational Awareness by killing monsters while the ability is active. Its XP curve is the same as other auxiliary-combat abilities like First Aid.
- - Higher-level versions of the Situational Awareness ability have increased range, reaching 80m radius at Situational Awareness 100
New Monster Feature: Stealthy
Some monsters are now Stealthy. This gives them two benefits:
First, if Situational Awareness is active, you must make a skill check (versus their Stealth) in order to see them on the minimap. Once the monster goes into combat, though, their stealth is permanently broken for you and they will show up on the minimap. You can also manually select their 3D model, which will then make their minimap dot appear.
Second, pets can't detect Stealthy monsters that aren't in combat (unless directed explicitly to attack a stealthy enemy). This means that aggressive pets like turrets and storms won't automatically engage passive Stealthy enemies.
The following types of monsters are Stealthy: Panthers, Biting Vines, some Spiders (such as the "Black Widow" varieties), smaller Snakes, Bear Traps, Drakeworms, and Lamias.
New Animal Models
We've begun replacing some of our more hideous animal artwork. In this update we've revised bears, wild pigs, panthers, tigers, bulls, sheep, rhinos, and hippos. More to come!
(We'll soon have player-animal-form artwork revamps as well. The fox revamp is nearly complete!)
Friendlier Work Order Intro
The Industry skill is a great way to earn money, but many players overlook it. To make it easier to get started, we've changed the Serbule Work Order sign to always have several newbie-friendly orders available. (These aren't new, but previously they only showed up randomly.)
In addition, we've done a quick rebalance of all Work Order payouts, generally increasing the cash value. (Often dramatically.)
Statehelm Crypt Revision
We've widened, heightened, and adjusted some of the crypt based on feedback. As a side-effect of changing the map, your map fog is reset (though your percentage is retained for XP purposes, meaning you won't earn more XP there until you clear more map than you had cleared previously).
Changes to the Enhanced/Advanced items (Scavenger's ring, rugged traveler, jaunty traipsing)
- - All Enhanced versions now have a static level 60 Endurance wield requirement
- - All Advanced versions now have a static level 90 Endurance wield requirement
- - The NPCs that give out these items no longer require a double skill setup to obtain endurance mods. There is now a skill-based selection in the menu for Endurance/Generic mods
Mycology
You can now find recipes in loot to create Mushroom Turrets. (These existed already but were only available in level 90 "Aktaari loot", which was out of reach to actual newbies.) The turrets have been rebalanced with reduced health but increased damage.
There are two new recipes to find, "Getting Serious About Mushroom Turrets" in level 30 and 40 loot-drops, and "Getting MORE Serious About Mushroom Turrets" in level 80 loot-drops. (These recipes are also in level 90 Aktaari Loot, just because the others are.) These new recipes enhance the damage of mushroom turrets based on what mushrooms you plug into the recipes (and the moon phase).
- Also adjusted grow-box data for Mortaferous Mushroom (which was incorrectly copying a different mushroom's data)
Clay Pots
Clay Pots can now be filled with water at lakes or wells. Pots of water are especially delicious and rehydrating due to the extra minerals in the pot. However, they are not suitable for other tasks that need a bottle of clean water (due to the extra minerals in the pot).
Invisible Armor
Riston in the Red Wing Casino now sells all pieces of the cosmetic "Invisible Suit" for 5 Live-Event Credits per piece. These pieces of equipment aren't really meant to be worn. They can be used with the "Apply Glamour" recipe to make other items look invisible.
Everything Else

- - Fix icon for Perfect Gloamwood
- - Typo fixes
- - a few abilities whose reset-timers previously ticked down while the player was offline no longer do: Collect Milk, Webspin, Truffle Sniff
- - fixed some NPCs that were supposed to be able to notice players doing things like killing nearby monsters, but weren't set up correctly
- - JSON: items that can be installed in guild halls have the InstallableInGuildHalls keyword, and those that will be installable in homes have the InstallableInHomes keyword

Update Notes: July 7, 2026
In this update we're just working through our bug queue. (Sometimes "bug" means "missing minor feature" so there's a few new things in here also.)
- - Riding 91-100 unlock now requires L90 Riding instead of Animal Handling
- - Spore Chest now contains proper level 100 loot
- - Reduce rats' collider sizes so they can squeeze past each other in tight spots

- - Increase level of Accelerated Orcpick Mk. 6 to 105, and increase the cost to unlock its crafting recipe

- - Druid bird forms are no longer considered curses
- - Quest names now properly display in the training window
- - Hemmit Magmagrip now sits upon a cozy rug instead of a white plane
- - Moonspelt can now be found growing in Vidaria. It only spawns at night, and only during the moon phases where the moon is most visible: Waxing Gibbous Moon, Full Moon, and Waning Gibbous Moon
- - two new favors for Deville Neth
- - two new favors for Fuzzlebun
- - added missing Crossbow prodigy level-up accessor
- - added missing Survival Instincts prodigy level-up accessor
- - added missing fairy magic level-up accessor
- - Fairy Magic Prodigy doesn't have much to do, because Mentalism Prodigy already affects every Fairy Magic ability. It mainly exists to provide synergy bonus levels for the skill. We will probably add a few more options here at some point, but right now it's not that great a purchase. Save it for when you're rich and don't care about spending money anymore
- - Warden+Fire Magic is now a valid skill combo for purposes of random loot generation
- - Improve AI navigation in Statehelm, which should decrease the likelihood of monsters spawning inside walls

- - Fix an exploit related to massive gem crafting: certain Massive Gem Inscription recipes required only a normal-sized Gem to craft the Inscribed Massive Gem, instead of a Massive Gem. Any Inscribed Massive Gems created this way have been marked Legacy and no longer function as massive gems. You can take them to the Legacy Item Helper golem in Serbule to turn them back into regular-sized gems and ink.
- - Fix rocks you can walk through in Dark Chapel
- - Fix Old Training Dummy's nameplate in Statehelm
- - Crates containing Burl's Throwing Hammers now actually spawn
- - Fix one of Anaberyl's dialogue options

- - For now, Farshight Flemmings teaches the gadgeteering recipe for the strange Mnemosyne Dredger item. (This recipe will be discoverable elsewhere in the future)
- - Mnemosyne Dredgers are one-use items which pull 1200 Combat Wisdom from your mind and create a Mnemosyne (with 1000 Combat Wisdom in it). They are lossy and a bit cumbersome, but provide a method for extremely high-level players to trade in Combat Wisdom
- - the reward for defeating Kunax entitled "Armor Maintenance Across Cultures" required you to be high-level in many different skills. To prevent you having to know all those skills at that specific moment, the reward now has no skill requirements and just gives you a bunch of recipe scrolls, which you can read when you meet the requirements.

- - bugfix: druid prodigy lets you improve indirect poison damage
- - bugfix: the Statehelm Citizen quest "Eating My Namesake" now requires a Salmpo Spleen rather than a Salmpo Heart (which is already wired up for a different quest and caused conflict issues)
