“There's no such thing as a happy ghost, that's what they say. Even if the ghost says it's happy, it can't actually be. By definition, basically. Isn't that interesting?
“They say a ghost doesn't always form right after someone's death. Sometimes it can take years. My son died three years ago and there's been no sign of him as a ghost.
Which is good. I guess that's good.
“It's been a bit of a shameful spot that my son was burried here instead of back at home. But he was a Statehelmsman through and through. Fought in the Second Column. "Fighting for good things," is how he described it to me.
But the way he died... nothing adds up about it! He was killed in a dragonfire blast. Three years ago. While just out and about in Vidaria. There's been no dragons in these human lands for a century or more!
“I think I'll head home next spring. I have no ties to this place anymore.
