“The art of taming animals and teaching them to fight alongside you.
Animal Handling is currently obtained from an altar just outside the graveyard in Serbule (during alpha, later it will available through a quest).
Animal Handlers spend a ton of time with their pets, raising and training them. Ancillary skills like Animal Husbandry let them breed pets to get the best genes for fighting (and best colors and appearances!). Animal Handlers have a lot of versatility because they can summon different pets for different problems, but they have to spend a lot of time out of combat raising these pets. (Hopefully this is a fun activity for them, though! It’s aimed at people who think raising and breeding virtual animals sounds fun.)[1]
You will need to know how to charm an animal to get started (most players have learned how to charm rats in the Tutorial Cave). When you have a charmed animal with you, use Tame Pet to make it a permanent pet.
You can have as many pets as you have stable slots. You can buy more stable slots in town.
If your pet dies, you can either try to resuscitate it in the field, or head back to the stable to revive it for a small fee.
There's a lot more to it, and a lot more to come.[2]
Pets Stats

- At skill 50 Old Fangsworth has 279 Armor, 906 health, and a Rage Meter of 739. Its attacks deal 57 and 60 slashing damage to an unarmored opponent at about a 2 second reuse, with its rage attack dealing 80 slashing damage.
- At skill 50 the Razorslash Panther has 130 Armor and 575 Health

At the stable NPC you can rename pets, resuscitate a pet, level your pets up, or release them.
- Locations
- Serbule Keep
- Hogan's Keep : there is a "temporary stable NPC" (Gisli?)
To Get a Cat
Get to level 20 AH, a piece of String, and visit the shrine in the SouthWest of Eltibule (near the Panthers and the boss bears).
- Level 20
