August 20 Update

Mainly a bug-fix update. But it's a large download because Unity sucks at compartmentalizing data changes. Sorry!

Instrument Fixes

People have reported a bunch of crashes related to instruments. I can't actually repro the crashes here, so I'm working from a couple of crash dumps... seems like two crash scenarios are involved. Hopefully these fixes will help.

- The blatterhorn and the mini-dulcimer accidentally had HUGE textures, causing the game to try to load gigs of image data if you got close to an instrument. This causes framerate problems, and could cause crashes if your video driver is crap. (And they are all crap.) Reduced textures dramatically.
- The new instruments mean that huge player jams can have 20+ instrument tracks at once. This can cause crashes if your audio drivers are crap. And they are all crap. You can now specify the max # of instruments you want to hear. It's set to 6 by default, which is tiny -- you can probably at least handle 12, but make sure you aren't crashing before raising it up!

Manticores Disabled For A Few Days

While the manticores' difficulty was better after the recent update, they were still giving out too much treasure, and it was too easy for low-level players to get there. No simple tweaks are going to fix that -- it needs some redesigning. :Our apologies for the inconvenience! The Manticores will be back soon, in one form or another.

Sewer Extension

A small addition to the Serbule Sewers is accessible. It's still under development, but there's some monsters to stab if you're low level.

Other Things

- Monsters no longer spam Nearby chat when they are hundreds of miles away
- Winter Wargs are blue again
- Player werewolves are a bit larger. They are now a bit bigger than a panther
- Player performances were a bit too large. They had a 40 meter radius, and now they have a 30 meter radius. Makes the performance a little more contained.
- NPCs had ultra-hearing. They could hear music up to 50 meters away. Now they hear it up to 30 meters, same as players.
- If you hate player music, you can now set the max # of tracks to 0 in the configuration window, and never hear music again

More coming soon!

August 20 Note

There will be a smallish bug-fix update in the late afternoon, after I wake up. There will be the usual 30 minute warnings.

Also! There is a Q&A this evening on our Teamspeak server at 9pm EST. Connection info is on the forums.
