* Mineral Surveys are named for both a region and color of gemstone. A [[Eltibule Orange Mineral Survey]] must be used in [[Eltibule]] and will only reward standard gems tagged with [[:Category:Items/OrangeCrystal]]. Some gems are less common than others, for example Obsidians are not as common when making Blue Mineral Surveys.
* Gems are used in various crafting recipes to create Enchanted equipment. They are placed into the Primary Crystal and Secondary Crystal slots as a method to determine what skills equipment will have when crafted.
* Many NPCs like minerals as favor. Some will prefer specific gems, some will like colors categories, and a few will accept any of them.
* Blue Mineral Surveys leading to Amethysts are quite popular due to their use in [[Teleportation]].

Gems are used in various crafting recipes to create Enchanted equipment. Gems can be placed into the Primary Crystal and Auxiliary Crystal slots in a recipe to determine what skills an item will have when crafted.
* {{Item|Goshenite}} and {{Item| Sunstone}} are two Ilmari Gems which are intended to generate Generic treasure effects ([[All_Skills/Treasure_Effects]]). (Confirmed by Citan in [[Game_updates/2018-06-20]]).
* {{Item|Danburite}} can currently be used for [[Endurance]] treasure effects ([[Endurance/Treasure_Effects]]), possibly including extraction of augments. <sup>Needs confirmation</sup>.
