Digging crystals out of the ground, and knowing what they do

Geology allows the collection of gems such as Bloodstone, Blue Spinel, Lapis Lazuli, Aquamarine, Fluorite.

In order to use this skill a player must first obtain the Surveying skill to obtain surveys for each Gem.

Buy Surveying book from Joeh.

Gameplay Notes

Surveys lead to mostly random gems. You have to make a lot of them to get the gems you need.

Clicking the map survey a little red spot will blink on the minimap, in addition to an on screen message which gives you approximate distances:

The Lapis Lazuli is 534m west and 1248m south.

Tips

A lot of running may be involved checking each location. To alleviate this, you may want to focus on one quadrant of the map. Unfortunately as of the alpha, items can not be freely rearranged in the inventory so as you run around you may have to right click all the surveys continually to find the ones closest to where you are.

Blue surveys are best to get the Amethyst required for teleportation.
