==How do I edit?Welcome to the Wiki==Welcome to the Project Gorgon Wiki. If you found this page, it probably means you want to contribute. I apologize for the current mess that is this page, it will eventually be updated and reformatted. To get started, familiarize yourself with some of the information below. This wiki uses the MediaWiki platform. If you are new to MediaWiki, see the some Help articles can be found on the sidebar. Useful tools: can edit the wiki if you are logged into forum account.fraps.com/ FRAPS (screen captures) When you first log in, will see your username in the upper right corner.com/en/ XnView (image browser)Please click that, Capture2Text (capture text straight to the clipboardand create a page about yourself, saves typing)and a Talk Page so that people may leave you messages.
When creating pages, we would like to maintain some semblance between similar pages. You can check out the formatting guidelines page, although that is probably partially outdated. The best method is to find a similar page, and see the formatting of that page.
Talk Pages
Please have a brief read of MediaWiki Help on Talk Pages. Signatures, indents, and topics (headings) in Talk Pages make it easier to see how the discussion is going and who has last replied, not just for the person you respond to, but any future editors who want to get up to date on the history of an article. Ideally, discussion in talk pages should generate a notification, however it does not work on this wiki yet (we'll have to ask devs to add required extensions). Consider watching talk pages (click the star) which you are participating in, as they will be highlighted in the Special:RecentChanges. Either way, structuring talk pages is very helpful. ==Formatting==Use existing pages as a guide, and for further details see the formatting guidelines page.
Where to Help
The following areas of the wiki need the most help:
; Pages that need fleshing outNPCs: Oritania (almost empty) - Under Most NPCs require clear, daytime photographs of them. It would be preferable that these screenshots be taken on the Hand - Wolf Cavehighest level of graphics.: Not all NPCs have pages yet.
; Pages with existing but incomplete tables
: Gems (complete the table)
; Skills
: Listing of Many skills require a few sentences about the Advanced Abilities skill, and where they drop or who teaches them (very useful)possibly some user comments on mechanics.: It would be great to have images for all skills, something that represents the skill.
: If you have high level play experience:
:: ... overview of pros and cons (good abilities, bad abilities)
:: ... which other skills does it work well with? and why?
: Simple lists or tables of level up skills/rewards. <span style="color:#F00;font-size:1.5em;">*</span>

; Recipes
: Simple lists or tables of The Cooking skill page needs recipeslisted with icons. <span style="color:#F00;font-sizeAll Icons will soon be uploaded to the wiki by User:1BetaNotus.5em;">*</span>This is expected to occur shortly. Such lists are useful for the wiki search, even without individual pagesFor now, if a player /wiki "fried banana" ... the pages listing the recipe will show up in the resultsicons can be left as “none.
; Dungeons
: Higher level Many dungeons are poorly documented atm, and still require:
:: Listing of foes, special foes, and harvestable nodes
:: Describe Points of Interest in the dungeon
:: Any particular general loot , quest loot that drops here?
:: Consider adding a few images to highlight the sights in a gallery tag (see Dungeon Template)
: Information on the Yeti Cave has already been collected by a user, and will be uploaded soon.
; High level Zones
:Serbule Keep page needs to be expanded upon, see the Eltibule Keep page for inspiration.: Sun Vale NPCsA map of Serbule Keep needs to be added, foesas well as maps of Eltibule Keep, Hogan’s Keep, landmarks (during alpha some abilities may move from one vendor to anotherand Almuna.: Hand-drawn or computer sketched maps are still missing for most dungeons. If you upload a hand-drawn map, but you will be helping those edits will who make computer sketched maps greatly. As dungeons keep expanding and changing, it might not be lost, just moved worth it to make computerized maps at this time.: POIs need to other articles as be determined and marked for most zones and dungeons.: Screenshots of POIs are needed for galleries at the bottom of the game updatespage.; Items:The Wiki really doesn’t need individual pages for every item (Sugar, Salt), but the wiki does benefit from having some items listed, such as Fire Dust, Anchor Runes, and Saltpeter. These are items that are frequently asked about.; Gameplay: Pretty much all gameplay articles need to be expanded upon. The "New Players Guide" could certainly use an update.
; Missing images
: Look at Special:WantedFiles. Red links are usually missing images. Click the "(1 link)" next to the red link, click the page listed below, then from that page click the image link in the article to add a picture. Try to optimize pictures a little bit in Photoshop by using "Save for Web" (JPEG). Size it down to 300 pixels wide to reduce the file size, as most articles will display a 300px thumb. Larger images can be used in the Galleries at bottom of dungeon/zone articles.
; IMPORTANT== Spoilers ==: <span style="color:#F00;font-size:1.5em;">*</span> Please be aware that Eric (lead dev) has expressed interest in feeding most abilities/recipes into If the wiki at some point (probably using the "Semantic" extension and formatting tables with special templates). That means you information exists, this Wiki should probably not create any individual pages for recipes or abilities at this point during alpharecord it somewhere. Doing Now, Project Gorgon is exploration based, so is not terribly useful as some spoilers might damage potential discoveries players might make. In general, record everything, but if the wiki search will find them in relevant lists (NPCstopic spoils a riddle, puzzle, or Skills pages)is something extremely hidden, and they may be overwritten when this data it is fed into best to spoiler tag it. Some parts of the wiki directly from the developer's spreadsheets/database. If you have knowledge of how to automate this kind of thing, please message User talk:Gorgonzola. The design of such tables can as Lore related pages, contain spoilers, but do not need to be discussed in the marked as such. Zones, Dungeon pages, Hidden Skill Template pagemechanics, and NPCs that have major reveals should use spoilers.
