Overview
Sword is typically one of the first combat skills a new player finds, along with Unarmed. Predictably, it requires a sword to be equipped in your main hand. Sword focuses on damage and rage reduction, with a side of armor shred. A well-geared swordsman can completely block a monster from using Rage attacks!

Calligraphy serves as the secondary skill for Sword, and provides various sword combos and special insights.

In-Game Description
Expertise with swords, rapiers, and the like. Swords are very damaging, and can reduce an opponent's Rage.
=== Training ===<!-- A list of methods to learn and level the skill -->* New players learn/obtain Sword is a by picking up the starting backpack on Anagoge * Nelson Ballard teaches Flashing Strike 1-4 and Precision Pierce 1-4 * Malvol teaches Decapitate 1-4, Thrusting Blade 1-3, and Heart Piercer 1-4 * Janet Lews will unlock levels 51-60, 61-70, and teaches level 51+ abilities * combat skillPegast that is received very early in the tutorialwill unlock levels 71-80, after looting the body of a dead elf.and teaches level 71+ abilities
Sword damage is actually quite good, the main hurdle to get over is to find ways to manage the Power Cost of abilities (ed: it * Levels 81-90 may be just bad luck as I haven't seen any power-enhancing Sword augments yet, they are probably there though)unlocked by gaining favor with a mysterious entity deep beneath Povus.
==Overview==Bonus levels to Sword skills have skill can be obtained from the following mechanicsskills and levels:* Means of controlling the enemy's Rage (Parry)* Damage over time to armor* High damage/ high power cost "finishing" abilities* Specialized damage type (eg. Flashing Strike vs Undead creatures)

Every time you level Calligraphy, you will learn a new recipe. Performing these recipes will give you a combo: if you execute that combo, it will have some extra effect. For example, the first recipe is "Pain: If you execute SwordSlash + SwordSlash + ManyCuts in that order, the final step deals 5 extra damage." Some recipes have passive insights that will be applied for the duration -generated treasure to this skillPain+ increases all your Direct Slashing damage by 1.
==Advanced==: The duration of Calligraphy effects can be extended by performing them on Calligraphy Benches, learned through Carpentry.Related Skills:* None
