Quest Information on NPC Pages
==Regarding Quest Information on NPC CategoriesPages==The basic categories I'm using atm. Feel free d love to make suggestions or criticism I am by all means a WikiMedia beginnerhear any thoughts from folks about simplifying the Quests subheading on NPC pages. My initial thoughts and reasonings are below:

Currently the same information is manually edited in two locations. (#On the page containing the top level category)quest information itself Category#On the NPC page - if up to template standards that includes five pieces of information:Serbule NPCs Favor, Objective, Reward spoiler, Requirements and Hints. This creates a duplication of work for wiki maintainers working on both pages, and leads to a situation where information may conflict (within a given zoneif one of the two locations is out of date) . On an aesthetic note, the spoilers have always looked off to me in this section (within a given dungeonbeing non-indented both in heading and expanded - as well as bold when quest names are not) etc.

Note that I have started using these categories with DynamicPageLists in 'd like to propose the Zone articles! Thus adding following:#Switch Quests subheading to be a new NPC DPL object pointing to Serbule NPCs category will automatically show up under "Friendly NPCs" of the relevant Zone. — [httpCategory:Quests//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:SignaturesNPC Quests#How_to_sign_your_posts Unsigned] comment added Remove spoilers, hints, rewards and requirements from the NPC page (achieved by Gorgonzola (talk • contribslinking quests pages)
==Proposed Changes==This would achieve:Should we have a category or some other notation #A cleaner look to the quest subheading for NPCs who will/wonNPC't talk s (the look and information on NPC pages would be standardized).#IMO aesthetics of NPC pages would improve by removing the spoiler blocks#Decrease the workload for maintainers by removing the need to players in beast forms? Karunama duplicate information (talkand verify duplicate information) 01#Centralizes all quest information on the quest page. for a given quest. This could impact users:54, 7 October 2014 #Users who come to the wiki looking for a specific quest by name would likely not be impacted (CDTlanding directly on the Quest page): I don't have Beast Forms gameplay experience, but it makes sense if it is not super obvious in-game. So you mean like eg. #Users who land on the Suspicious Cow in Eltibule? Well if we have NPC page first may'a category something like "Beast Form Friendly NPCs" then we can make a DPL (DynamicPageList) listing within Beast Formshave one additional click to access the information##Sort of. But... is it the case that some talk users have to spider but not wolfclick Expand for spoilers, some talk to wolf but not cow , etc? (I and many quest on NPC pages don't know)contain spoilers, objectives or hints. If not Now is a good time for this change because:#Except for Druid quests, all quests pages on the wiki have recently been updated/uploaded, then following the category makes sensestandardized quest template. Next we could potentially add that to a future Template:NPC infobox eg#All quests now contain categories for location (i. "Talks to Beasts" yes/noe. Until thenSerbule, we can add it to Eltibule) and NPC who initiates the NPC pages so we don't forgetquest. I think it would fit in This allows for the intro text? Another sentence "John Doe talks first time use of DPL to players in [generate quests list (See [Beast Forms[Beast FormChirrra]]" as it will be high up the pagefor an example) Thoughts? I'll look for comments for ~week or so, and it won't clog most pages unless there is consensus against (I think it's limited to a few NPCsor the admins say no!). We could also add a section only on relevant NPCs. I prefer the extra sentence so we don't needlessly lengthen the ll proceed with this proposed change and update NPC pages for this small info. In time, we can move this info to the "NPC infobox" (another sidebar "info card" thingy). But either way is fineaccordingly.
