Without any bonuses, it takes 113 skulls to reach level 12 in a Phrenology subskill (which is enough to unlock the second tier of recipes, the ones which use {{ItemCategory|ImpressiveHumanoidSkull}}).
Crafting xp boosts affect the xp gained from each skull.
Phrenology appears to be a parody of the real-world pseudoscience of the same name.
