<spoiler>First, Elmetaph will teach the player "The secrets of teleportation" if they have amethysts in their possession. The amethysts can be found in several different places, but once a player picks up amethysts, new spawns are no longer available to that player. So far, amethysts have been found in bags near the teleportation circles, both the broken one on the north shore and the functional one on the south shore.

;No, I don't remember you or anything about this place, I'm afraid.

Next, Elmetaph will direct the player to cast "bind circle" on the teleportation circle, which is the one on the southern beach of the island.
+
Well, shit. Then you're not going to survive long here. The place is overrun with creepy crawlies now, since no students come for their battle tests anymore.

After casting bind circle, the player will return to Elmetaph, who is shocked that the player's soul is now bound to the island. He offers the player the chance to change their bind location, but only if they give him the coordinates found on the four obelisks.

I remember you! Come back to tour the old grounds? Well, the island's not in good shape anymore. I don't think you'll enjoy your visit

Elmetaph is an Elf living in the Lighthouse on Anagoge Island. When he was known as Proctor Elmetaph, he operated an academy designed to test the magical capabilities of potential recruits for the Council. It seems possible the goal of school was to gather and identify Prodigies. While the school itself has been destroyed, both Elmetaph and some of his tests remain.

Elmetaph will teach players teleportation so that they can escape from the island. He also has a habit of mispronouncing the player's name, implying a familiar but not-too-familiar recollection, as if the player was once a student.

While reading through the books in Elmetaph's room, the player will learn the basics in Alchemy.

Location

Anagoge Island
Lighthouse in the Northwest.

I remember you! (Player's name, garbled), right? Come back to tour the old grounds? Well, the island's not in good shape anymore. I don't think you'll enjoy your visit.

You know me?

'Course I do! I never forget a face. You were younger back then. But I guess that's how time works. Anyway, if you came for a visit, I'm afraid there's not much left.

I don't remember any of this. My memories are gone!

Aw, another person got mind-wiped? Those damned hags have dumped a dozen or so here in the past year. No idea why!

Most of 'em got killed within an hour or so of arriving. But then, they weren't old students of mine. You remember any of my lessons?

No, I don't remember you or anything about this place, I'm afraid.

Well, shit. Then you're not going to survive long here. The place is overrun with creepy crawlies now, since no students come for their battle tests anymore.

Well it's a state secret, but you used to have authorization, so I guess you still do, technically...

I wonder if you passed your final exam? Heh, I guess it doesn't matter now.
So that school is gone now?
Yep. Been gone for years. They shut everything down in a hurry one day. I don't know why.
When the school closed I moved here because... well, that's my own damn business.
I have another question.

Sure, (garbled version of players name), what else is on your mind?

Is there a way off this island?
Well, you could swim, hehe... no, don't look hopeful, that was a joke! The sea's full of horrible beasts. An elven friend comes to visit me every year or so. You could get a ride back with her. Shouldn't be more than six or eight months wait.

Quests

Your Special Someone

After completing the quest Obelisk Math, Elmetaph will offer you the option to select a choice that will potentially affect your character in the future.

I remember you talking on and on about your special friend. I got the impression it was quite serious. But that was back in your academy days.

Hm, would that have been a boy or a girl, do you think?

I suppose it would have been a boyfriend...
I suppose it would have been a girlfriend...

If you want to find them, you should make your way to Statehelm. That's a long way from here, but it's where the Council record-keepers are. They might be able to help you.
