I'm Ser Hackley, the Commander of City Maintenance. I'm responsible for keeping this city together. But I'm sorry to report that pretty much every single engineer under my command has been routed to the battlefield., so very little maintenance is getting done right now.
You just need to be patient, we will restore the city to its proper beauty right after we quell the demon problem in Vidaria.

You're already employed by the Council! Well that's great! The answer is yes, you can help! Hopefully. If you have any construction background, I can teach you the basics of civil engineering.

“I'm responsible for all sorts of city technology. In better times I had quite a few full-time engineers working for me, but now I only have whiny citizens and an aching back.
“I'm a Council Chancellor. We work directly with the Council mages and can act on their behalf. And it's no secret that the Council is pretty preoccupied most of the time. We Chancellors have to keep everything running.
“It's true, the old v2 cornucopia broke down all the time. Food would get stuck in it and pressure would build up. Damned stupid design. Of course, the v3 isn't a lot of fun. But it hasn't broken down as much.
“Plants are overgrown, the sewer's clogged, and vandals are ruining the city! It's a nightmare.
“Oh good, the new order of bulbs came in. We were running low.
Some days I think just going back to oil lamps would be better. We'd have to light them all, but at least they stay lit. These bulbs go out all the time!
“Why do people think I'm responsible for investigating thefts? Ugh! But yes, I did report Elune's story to the constabulary. They made a perfunctory investigation and decided it was Denton Razor's gang. And that's the end of that! We don't tangle with Razor's gang if we can help it. She's out of luck.
