Item #How to Obtain sections

Hello, welcome to the PG wiki! Thank you for your contributions so far; they look great.

I'm a somewhat long-time off-and-on contributor to this wiki. Just wanted to say hi and mention that I noticed one of your goals is to fill out the "How to Obtain" sections of the wiki. I have a work-in-progress Python script that will generate a table of all the recipes that can create a given item for the #How to Obtain section, as well as all the recipes in which an item can be used as an ingredient in for the #Uses section. See, for example, String. I am still running across new bugs that i am attempting to (slowly) fix intermittently as i implement the script on a case-by-case basis on pages where it occurs to me it would be especially useful to have these subsections. Eventually i would like to attempt to create a bot that will create and maintain these recipe-subsections of "How to Obtain" and "Uses" for all item pages. But in the meantime, i just wanted you to know that you can avail yourself of this resource (i can either run the script myself on any pages you bring to my attention, or make the code available to you) should it seem useful in some circumstance(s).

Best wishes. --Alleryn (talk) 13:57, 29 August 2020 (EDT)

Hello! Thank you!! Coincidentally, I am a DevOps engineer and work with Python a lot. I would in no way want to usurp your work or step on toes, but if you want any assistance, I would be happy to try to squash some bugs. My method so far has been to hit "Random page" until I land on an item I have familiarity with, lol. Aurelis (talk) 18:02, 29 August 2020 (EDT)
Certainly no toe-stepping felt on my end. I am glad to find (another) someone with a similar interest.
As I said, I have some ideas and vague, very-partially-implemented plans about these How to Obtain sections (which i will now being referring to as HtOs) and the Uses sections, so i thought it best to mention it as soon as possible, but those plans are in no way set in stone. I do have some opinions on the relative merits of various approaches, and i think it would be sensible to in some way coordinate our efforts before setting too far down any particular road on what will likely affect thousands of pages.
Currently the coordination of the wiki team seems to happen mostly over the Discord, so that might be one place to start/continue our coordination, if that suits you.
