Conversations

I'd heard people talking about Sir Johnson when I worked in Statehelm. He's a well-respected military leader. As I'm sure he'll tell you, he successfully led the Invasion of Tree-Rock-Bridge, which everyone thought was a suicide mission.

His nickname among friends is The Fox, which apparently implies cunning. Why are foxes cunning? Mortals are weird.

Anyways, he's a "free thinker," meaning that he flouts military regulation constantly.

Seems like a bad trait for a military leader.

I guess you're right. Where I come from, battles are much more... chaotic, and a bit of capriciousness is a good thing. But in the Council, leaders who don't follow orders end up relocated to far-away posts where they can't cause trouble. And look, here we are!

So he's been moved here as a punishment?

Yes. Well, it's more complicated than that. His career has had a lot of ups and downs, and he's good at "turning problems into opportunities," as he says.

He was sent out here to keep an eye on Rahu, which was definitely a demotion. But they ne found out about Xedrite, and the Council gave him permission to collect a bunch of it, and he sees this as his way back into their good graces.

He never disobeys orders, exactly. He just bends a lot of rules. Apparently this has worked out well for him in the past... sometimes.

Thank you for the information.
