Purging multiple pages
Hello. After some edits yesterday a number of pages seem not to be updating past their cached version (see e.g. Mushroom_Jack#Sells to see the problem). This applies to edits made to Template:Icon and Template:MOB_infobox. I'm looking to purge multiple pages (or the whole wiki) to fix this. Wanted so see if you had any experience with this before proceeding. Discussion at Template_talk:Icon. I've posted on Extractum11's talk page as well. Alleryn (talk) 15:17, 24 February 2017 (CST)
Remove Template:Vendor recipe row
I created this template when trying to sort out how to make recipe rows at a vendor show icons and link to the proper pages. I tested the template on the Braigon page and was not happy with the result. With several other changes, Template:Vendor item row now works in this capacity, and produces a satisfactory result. I've changed the Braigon page to Template:Vendor item row and as such this template is no longer used or needed (and may add confusion). We need someone with sysop to delete please. Thanks! - Since chatted with Alleryn and he suggested use Template:Delete. Added to page. Arindor (talk) 23:04, 15 March 2017 (CDT)
- Thanks for using Template:Delete! It throws pages into Category:Candidates for deletion, which notifies me when something is added to it. BetaNotus (talk) 11:30, 20 March 2017 (CDT)
Copper Ore page
Hey BetaNotus, would it be possible for you to rename the current page Copper ore to Copper Ore ? Thanks :-) Jackybah (talk) 14:15, 18 March 2017 (CDT)
ItemT changes
Please notice icon= syntax for Template:ItemT is deprecated. This was dropped when ItemT was converted to use Template:Item_icon. See docs for details. Arindor (talk) 09:43, 3 May 2017 (CDT)
Linking in quest text.
I had not been linking, changing case, or correcting any spelling inside quest texts. My understanding was that we should provide the text from dialogs exactly as provided by the game, without any further manipulation. Mentioning because I noticed you made such changes recently on Find an Amethyst. Summary information is directly from Quest Journal and, of course, the Preface text is from dialogue with the NPC. I ask this question because I seem to be the only one adding the quest text to quests. :) Arindor (talk) 09:35, 6 May 2017 (CDT)
- Good question. The only reason I made those changes was to improve connections between pages on the wiki. There were a few players in-chat last night that requested improved information on Amethysts, so I added a few links between pages to hopefully alleviate some of their concerns. In my opinion, it would be beneficial for users of the wiki if editors were to link to wiki pages of items, characters, and locations that appear in the Quest Summary information. To preserve spelling and capitalization, things could be linked like this, which would work. What is your opinion? BetaNotus (talk) 11:50, 6 May 2017 (CDT)
- In my opinion, I think linking and even correcting are fine, as long as we stay "faithful" to the intent of the developers. I am asking the question because I thought I saw somewhere (perhaps in one of the templates?) to quote exactly as written, and not to attempt to correct. Final opinion (just a grammatical item), I think technically it should be amethysts and not Amethysts in the text; in those cases use [[Amethyst|amethyst]] (as you suggest). But opinions aside, I'm happy conforming to whatever standard we choose! Arindor (talk) 12:19, 6 May 2017 (CDT)
- That's good to hear, and I have to agree with you. The "exactly" probably came from the Article names section of this page. I think I will be updating that section in a day or two, as there is an exception and instance when spelling mistakes should be fixed. That would be when the typo prevents the proper linking of a character/zone/item with a known name. The seemingly important background character of Dalvos is mistakenly referenced to as Davlos in some older in-game material. This is leftover from when the character was actually called Davlos. Citan changed his name back in 2014. There was also at one point an NPC that called the town of Sinoca by Cinoca, which was a spelling error that has been fixed. I'll make this sound nicer tomorrow after I get some sleep and, add it as an exception on the Formatting page. Thanks! BetaNotus (talk) 12:45, 6 May 2017 (CDT)
