Talk:Equipment
From Project: Gorgon Wiki
I love the idea of this page, but I think a different style of table would be best, for easy use and access. I will add one below, and let me know what you think. One thing it still needs is alternating colors for the table, which I am working on. BetaNotus (talk) 16:30, 21 January 2015 (CST)
I was actually planning to add how it looks when equipped, and I want to put it next to the chart like what you did with those two chart. the pictures would be just two, one from front, one from behind.
- While that's a good idea for the future, I don't think it's especially reasonable right now. We'd need to develop a standard format for taking images (background, how to edit it, quality of images, ect), as well as recording information for current equipment sets (which counting all the craft-able armor sets... is almost 200). The other factor is storage. As of right now, flooding the wiki with ~400 images would be a bad thing, at least until we have more room for images, and a better storage system for them. For now, recording the names, base stats, and using the current in-game icons is the best option. If you want (for uniquely named items), use This system. One last thing, to sign your name, time, and date at the end of a post, enter four tilde (~). BetaNotus (talk) 11:35, 23 January 2015 (CST)
- True. Adding the visual will be unnecessarily time consuming and might have to be redone due to the quality and the formats. Just a suggestion, I am not familiar with the formats yet, so I'll post the data then you can edit them in if you are okay with it. Mingi (talk) 15:21, 23 January 2015 (CST)
- In short, for every two types of items, copy and paste the tables below. Each block that starts with "gear table row" is an individual item in one of the tables. Each item has an item name, icon, a base stat, and the base value. Just replace them with whatever you want, and leave icons at the basic set for now (basicsword/basicstaff, ect). I'm currently editing lots of new icons for use on the wiki. Also, do you think Equipment Sets might be a better title for this page? If so, I'll change it. Thank you, BetaNotus (talk) 15:31, 23 January 2015 (CST)
- Thanks a lot. How should the order of the items be? alphabetical? should we organize them by tiers? or alphabetical? I don't want to call them sets? maybe as a subtitle, I can't think of better one than "Equipment" to replace "Equipment Stat". Mingi (talk) 18:25, 23 January 2015 (CST)
- I think Weapons followed by Armor would work for inside the tables. When we have more sets of gear on the page, we can sort by base stats. I think "Equipment" is fine. I will switch it exactly 10 minutes from the time of this post. Also, for instances like Ravana which has more "Stat Changes" I am fine with having only one table, instead of two next to each other. - I don't really like the double table, it makes me to turn my eyes around. Also, it looks too flat to just put the charts there, I might want to put links where it drops/sells to make it more informative.Mingi (talk) 19:05, 23 January 2015 (CST)
- Ah, I can see that. I seems to mess with things if the wiki is shrunken to 50% wide, such as the half-screen ability of Windows 7. One table it is, and I set the one up below. I think some basic info on the set, and the white space underneath can be used for images of characters wearing (some of) the items. BetaNotus (talk) 19:32, 23 January 2015 (CST)
