Performance Mechanics
Music
Playing or listening to music grants the Music Appreciation Buff which has the following benefit:
- +1% Combat Experience gained per level
- +4 Out-of-combat Armor Regeneration per level
Your music appreciation level increases or decreases over time to match the music performance level you're currently appreciating. If you have a high music appreciation level, be careful when moving through areas where others may be playing music. Your music appreciation level will not decrease if you are not currently appreciating a performance.
Gardening Bonus
Playing music while gardening can increase the chances for an increased crop harvest.
Some details:
- Every five seconds there's a die-roll to see if the plant is affected by music. The number of performers playing near it at that moment determines the chance. Once it's been affected, it can't get more affected; it's a one-shot deal. After the first dice roll if it did not "win" the roll, we move on to the next roll 5 seconds later and so on and so on until the roll is "won" or the plant is harvested/despawns or the music/effect has stopped. Also note that the number of players/instruments can change and is accounted for per roll.
- The performers' skill is also factored in, but just the highest per skill. So having wind, drum, and string performers is much better than having three drum performers.
- More (and more varied) performers do increase the chance of increased gardening yield, up to approximately 12 performers.
Dance
Dancing to music or watching an interpretive dance performance grants the Dance Appreciation buff which grants the following benefit:
- +1% Crafting Experience gained per level
- Metabolism Regeneration based on the level
Your dance appreciation level increases or decreases over time to match the dance performance level you're currently appreciating. If you have a high dance appreciation level, be careful when moving through areas where others may be dancing. Your dance appreciation level will not decrease if you are not currently appreciating a performance.
Extra Effects
While dancing with a group of 3 or more players, players will receive synchronized dance prompts. Based on the number of players that perform the synchronized dance before the prompt expires, participating dancers will have a small chance of activating an extra effect that can last for several hours.
