The holidays are upon us! While Alharth doesn't celebrate Christmas, it does celebrate Ri-Shin Day, and New Years' Day. Townsfolk who are your [Friends] will offer you gifts when you speak with them. (Make sure to have your favorite combat skills active in case they give you a piece of randomly-generated gear!)

There's also a Ri-Shin festival waiting to happen in each city and township in the land, but they will need your help getting their trees assembled. Look for townsfolk in festive red Ri-Shin hats to get started.

This year, there's also a new way for the community to work together. This is an experiment -- we've never tried anything like this before. You'll receive an introductory quest for this part of the event after you've assembled a few Ri-Shin trees. (If you're a Druid, you'll be briefed immediately upon login.)

Game updates/2020-12-11

The Winter Holiday of Ri-Shin celebrates the victory of the god of plants and trees over Vol-Mu, a former god of winter. Although the holiday was popularized by humans on Alharth, most other races enthusiastically join the festive spirt of the season as well. The holiday season lasts from the start of Ri-Shin through the New Year's celebration. The 2020 event began on December 11th and ended January 22nd.

Shrine of Ri-Shin

Found west of the Eltibule portal in the Kur Mountains, the Shrine of Ri-Shin is an anchor of the god of plants and trees. Maintained primarily by Snowleaf and the Druids of Alharth, the shrine offers rewards to those who seek the bounty of Ri-Shin.

The blessing of Ri-Shin can be received by travelers standing in the shrine that speak words of praise in Nearby chat, Praise Ri-Shin, guardian of the shrine!

Unlocking the Shrine

While Druids automatically unlock a quest allowing them to donate items to the shrine through Snowleaf, adventurers pledged to other gods, or none at all, must prove themselves a friend of Ri-Shin. Not-Druids must decorate Ri-Shin trees, which raises a hidden favor value with Ri-Shin. Completely decorating the trees in Serbule Hills, Serbule, Eltibule, and Sun Vale is enough to demonstrate to Ri-Shin your dedication to the holiday spirit, however mostly completing quests at more than four trees can also work.

Shrine Tasks

Each task given by Snowleaf requires a quantity of items sacred to Ri-Shin to be gathered and turned in. Snowleaf calculates the value of donations to the shrine using a cumulative point system.

  • The first time 99 points is reached, the sidebar ability icon_3809.pngSummon a Radish will be awarded.
  • Every 99 points earned after learning the ability rewards a .
  • Points are cumulative. If 40 1-point items are turned in just before the end of a task, only 59 items are required during a later task to earn a .
Task # Items Required Points Unlocked Reward Visual change
1 10,000 Wood (any type) 1 Hot Spring Warmth Spring activated, providing warmth.
2 25,000 1 Forest Armor (+20 Max Armor, 60:00) Blue light activated.
3 50,000 0.25 Forest Power (+20 Max Power, 60:00) Green light activated.
4 5,000 1 Forest Health (+20 Max Health, 60:00) Orange light activated.
5 10,000 1 Forest Wall (+40 Max Armor, 60:00) West (Blue) totem activated.
6 10,000 Flowers (any type) 1 Forest Force (+40 Max Power, 60:00) East (Green) totem activated.
7 10,000 1 Forest Life (+40 Max Health, 60:00) South (Orange) totem activated.
8 15,000 1.5 Ri-Shin Shrine Storage (16 items) Chest unlocked.
9 25,000 1.5 Ri-Shin Shrine Storage (32 items) No visual changes.

Tree Decorating

Ten undecorated Ri-Shin trees can be discovered across Alharth, usually in areas populated by friendly NPCs. An NPC near each tree, usually wearing a red Ri-Shin hat, will automatically give out a quest associated with the decorating of their tree. Adventurers must continue to speak to the NPC, accepting additional quests from their Do Favor menu to actually complete the tree.

Once a tree is fully decorated, a present will appear under it. For the rest of the event, a new present will appear under each completed tree. The respawn time for a present is sixteen hours.
