Halloween is a Seasonal Event celebrated in the Council Lands. For the past few years, strange circumstances have befallen Alharth during this time, often related to the Undead. This seems to be a result of the Chalice being in close alignment with Alharth.

Throughout the season, Skeletons, Ghouls, and other Undead drop seasonal materials, recipes, and ability scrolls. Magical keys can also be looted, which are used to open chests behind the Inn of Serbule Keep. The goddess of whimsy and unpredictability, Zhia Lian, has a habit of interfering during this time of year. She often offers promising adventurers lucrative rewards for helping with a far-reaching Undead problem, and issues related to her misguided Cult.

Zhia Lian's Undead Removal & Spooky Challenge Quests

Zhia Lian begins by tasking each adventurer with two quests. Zhia Lian Event: Candied Apples and Zhia Lian Event: Kill Skeletons are received by characters logged in during the event period. Completing a quest unlocks additional quests in a branching quest tree. Fourteen quests reward a Live Event Credit when completed, and most others reward Event Loot Keys of various levels. A total of seven titles can be unlocked through completing quests.

Party Quests - Zhia Lian

Adventurers that complete either Zhia Lian Event: Bat Out or Zhia Lian Event: Kill Pumpkin Mimics will be given permission to begin the quest Zhia Lian Event: Preparing For The Big Party by speaking to Brandon Mellus. Before work on that quest can begin, Brandon's quest Zhia Lian Event: Delivering The Beer must be completed. After finishing the beer delivery quest, Brandon will move from Amulna to the Red Wing Casino party room. Three quests must be completed to finish Zhia Lian Event: Preparing For The Big Party.

Once Zhia Lian assigns Zhia Lian Event: The Unfortunate Cultists, Brandon will offer four quests to help complete the task. Each quest is completed by finishing another quest related to the cultist in need.

To help Westley, find him in Serbule and complete Zhia Lian Event: The Elven Medicine.

Zhia Lian Event: Help Deville the Donkey

To help Deville, find him around Animal Town and complete Zhia Lian Event: The Donkey's Cure

Live Parties

Adventurers who successfully receive an invitation to the Zhia Lian Party will be able to enter the Red Wing Casino party room during set times announced beforehand by the Developers. There were six parties in 2022, three per day on November 12th and November 13th.

Receiving a Party Invite

Adventurers should speak with Brandon Mellus and try to successfully complete a quiz to receive the Cultist of Zhia Lian title. If you pass the quiz, you also receive a verbal invite. Those who fail the quiz must complete the quest Zhia Lian Event: Delivering The Beer to receive an invite. Completing this quest anyways is recommended, as it grants access to the party room throughout the entire Zhia Lian event. Individuals who only correctly complete the quiz and do not complete the quest will only be able to access the party room once an in-game announcement is made shortly before each party stating that the doors are open to guests.

Besides an invite, a party mask is also required. Those without an equipped mask will be automatically teleported out of the party room if they attempt to enter it. Items listed in Category:Items/MasqueradeMask can be quipped to grant access. These masks can be looted off of several types of undead mobs during Halloween or crafted through Tailoring.

Party Activities

Each scheduled live party lasts for about 25 minutes and contains a variety of scripted events. Some of these events may extend or shorten the length of the party.

Events which always happen:

Guests are allowed access to the party room.
A series of consumable food items spawn on tables at timed intervals. Each guest is allowed to take one of each item per party they attend.
Zhia Lian appears and takes over the party.
The path to the storage rooms opens. Monsters inside drop

All guests are teleported out of the party room.

Events which have a chance to happen:

Zhia Lian spawns an army of The Main Course.
Zhia Lian spawns one or more armies of Evil Spider Gang Member, Casino Ass, or Claudia's Minion.
Zhia Lian turns everyone in the room into butterflies.
Zhia Lian turns everyone in the room into skeletons.
Zhia Lian turns everyone in the room into bats.
Zhia Lian smites everyone in the room.
Zhia Lian revives everyone in the room.

Party Prizes

At the end of a party, a chest will appear on one of the tables. The chest requires a

Weird Key

to unlock. A somewhat random selection of items will be bestowed upon the unlocker. The first chest a character loots at a Zhia Lian party during a given year will also unlock the yearly title. In 2022, that title was Party Cultist 2022.
