Digging crystals out of the ground, and knowing what they do

Geology allows the collection of gems which are used for crafting and the teleportation skill. In order to raise this skill a player must first obtain the associated Surveying skill from Joeh, and use a Crystal Survey.

A mineral survey of a given tier leads to a gem from that tier. Some gems are less common than others, for example Obsidians are not as common when making Blue Mineral Surveys.

Blue Crystal Surveys leading to Amethysts are quite popular due to their use in Teleportation.

Catalyst Gems

The Geology skill has recipes used to turn certain gems into Catalyst Gems which are used in certain high level crafting recipes.

Catalyst Gems have specific skills they are primarily created for, but most have at least one secondary use.
