Every five levels, a research recipe can be learned which allows for researching a certain number of abilities per recipe. When a research recipe is completed, one of the abilities tied to that ability will be learned randomly.

Tempest Magic & Tempest Energy

Tempest Energy is a Weather Witching mechanic which is primarily used to enable the Tempest Flight sidebar abilities. Once a Weather Witch learns Tempest Flight, they will begin to accumulate Tempest Energy.

  • Tempest Energy is expended when Tempest Flight is used.
  • Tempest Energy is regained when defeating enemies using Weather Witching.
  • The initial maximum Tempest Energy is 100. Raising the level of Weather Witching increases the maximum total Tempest Energy which can be accumulated.

Tempest Energy Recipes

A variety of exercises, meditations, rites, and secret techniques can be used to increase the maximum total Tempest Energy beyond leveling. These are expressed as recipes predominantly taught by Weather Witching skill trainers, however a few are found in enemy loot.

20 Song of the Sun 10 Increase your Maximum Tempest Energy through a simple ceremony. It must be performed at noon [game time] on a perfectly clear day. It can be performed repeatedly on different days. Each performance permanently increases your Maximum Tempest Energy +1.
25 Errana's Lesson To Kirad 1 Increase your Maximum Tempest Energy +5 by reciting an ancient elven story that can expand your mind. The recitation need only be performed once; the effects are permanent. It must be performed outdoors while surrounded by at least 20 growing garden plants.
35 Errana's Soliloquy 1 Increase your Maximum Tempest Energy +5 by reciting elven verses that can expand your mind. The recitation need only be performed once; the effects are permanent. It must be performed outdoors while enjoying post-coital bliss.
45 Paullus's Pulsing Reminder 1 Increase your Maximum Tempest Energy +5 through a ritual that expands your understanding. The ritual need only be performed once; the effects are permanent. It must be performed outdoors while severely intoxicated and suffering from a pineal juice hangover.
50 Litany of Stillness 1 Increase your Maximum Tempest Energy +5 through a mysterious ceremony. It must be performed at midnight [game time] on a new moon [real world]. It need only be performed once; the effects are permanent.
55 The Flopsy Dance 1 Increase your Maximum Tempest Energy +5 through an extraordinarily painful ritual. The ritual need only be performed once; the effects are permanent. Must be performed outdoors while suffering from 20 broken bones.
60 Trial of Lannasea 1 Increase your Maximum Tempest Energy +5 through a simple ritual. The ritual need only be performed once; the effects are permanent. It must be performed at precisely 4AM [game time] while in a sandstorm.
65 Meditation on Water 1 Increase your Maximum Tempest Energy +5 through a simple ritual that expands your understanding. The ritual need only be performed once; the effects are permanent. Must be performed outdoors while fully submerged in water.
70 Final Rites of Cae-a-Lee 1 Increase your Maximum Tempest Energy +5 through a supposedly-ancient (but actually fairly modern) ritual. The ritual need only be performed once; the effects are permanent. It must be performed outdoors while suffering from at least two diseases and two curses.
75 Lessons of the Swamp 1 Increase your Maximum Tempest Energy +5 through a simple ceremony said to expand your mind. The recitation need only be performed once; the effects are permanent. It must be performed while sitting in shallow water after having just licked a toxic frog.
80 Mope's Method 1 Increase your Maximum Tempest Energy +5 through a simple but extremely lengthy ritual. The ritual need only be performed once; the effects are permanent. Must be performed near a meditation pillar.
